Huge congratulations to Megan Rees from Oxford who entered the competition hoping to change the life of her three year old daughter Ariella.
Ariella has severe disabilities, she was given a 10% chance of survival at birth and has beaten the odds. Her parents have had to give up work to provide round the clock care for her as her needs are so complex.
Ariella currently has nowhere safe to play outside and can’t even go to the park as it is too risky for her.
We are very excited to begin the transformation and give Ariella beautiful garden to play in. Watch this space!

Believe it or not, this space was once a green haven from harsh urban life for my partner and I. We enjoyed it for two summers and then the pigeons took over - that was over 5 years ago! We have spent hundreds of pounds erecting spikes and metal mesh. Year after year the pigeons came back and christened every piece of decking, artificial grass, flower pot and fence. We just stopped going up there as we got fed up of cleaning and threw everything away. Last year a gust of wind ripped out a piece of the fence but on a positive note the pigeon proofing paid off and the pigeons no longer come to our terrace to nest as access has been properly blocked. Unfortunately, the proofing has drained our finances.
We would love to enjoy the space again this summer and a grand would be just what we need to fix the fence, the broken door which has had to be bolted down to stop it rattling in the wind, a power wash and treatment for the decking and fences which are drab and tired.
I can already smell the burgers sizzling on the barbecue, feel the fake blades of grass between my toes and taste a cold beer as the sun beats down on our faces. More importantly we would love to entertain family and friends instead of always having to go around theirs!
