Huge congratulations to Megan Rees from Oxford who entered the competition hoping to change the life of her three year old daughter Ariella.
Ariella has severe disabilities, she was given a 10% chance of survival at birth and has beaten the odds. Her parents have had to give up work to provide round the clock care for her as her needs are so complex.
Ariella currently has nowhere safe to play outside and can’t even go to the park as it is too risky for her.
We are very excited to begin the transformation and give Ariella beautiful garden to play in. Watch this space!

I am a single mother with a learning disabled son who also has Autism. My son is currently being looked after in a self contained flat. I have been very dissapointed with the care he is receiving and when he tells me he us lonely it breaks my heart, so I have embarked on setting up his own home where he can share with 3 other learning disabled people of his own age. I am currently renovating an old property not far from where I live and there have been unforeseen cost in bringing the property back to a habitable state. It has a beautiful long garden which was a big attraction because where he is there is no such green space.
The garden currently has a pond, but I feel this would have safety issues so would turn into a herb garden/planting area and making the rest of the garden as low maintenance as possible without loosing the wonderment of the outdoor feeling. I do what I can to keep the grass low but the trees/conifers have taken over.
The garden at present has a 2 dimension look taking you into another space, I could see an activity summer house here, brining the outdoors inside where they could spend time together on stimulating activities. I have asked my electrician to leave provision for taking electric to the summer house when funds become available.
If I was lucky enough to win this it would enhance the life of my son and give him a quality of life he is currently not receiving and provide an enjoyable space to share with others.
