our kitchen is a good space but just isnt working for us as a family. we are half way through an extension to make it into a bigger more family friendly space. the foundations for this are already done and the building work is due to start in a few months but we are fast running out of money and once the shell of the building is up a new kitchen will be on hold until we can afford it.....which is going to take a long long time! we are hoping to create a kitchen/dining/family room. our existing kitchen is a nightmare at the moment, with little storage as it is we are in the middle of putting in a new bathroom upstairs (this needed to be done before the building work of the extension because of soil and water pipes) and our kitchen is doubling up as a storage space for the bathroom furniture as well as a place to feed our 7 month old baby and of course attempt to cook meals on my rusty old horrid cooker! the kitchen units are a miss match of old units which i cant wait to rip out and the old tired wooden floor is a nightmare to keep clean with a young baby wanting to explore. my hubby has been so busy with the bathroom and getting our babys room ready before he arrived ripping out ceilings floors and re wiring electrics to name but a few of the jobs that needed doing. he has spent so many weekends being constantly covered in black dust it would be so nice to give him a break from DIY and let someone else do the hard work for a change. having a new kitchen would mean the absolute world to me and would mean we could finally enjoy sitting down together for a family meal in a lovely room.
