As mortified as I am to put pictures of our fuchsia and gold bathroom on the internet for all to see, we are in desperate need of a makeover. We are first time homeowners who bought a “do-er upper” two years ago but despite the bathroom being top of our list, we’ve not been able to sort this yet and it’s falling apart around us (can you see the toilet roll tube keeping the window open?!). The previous owners clearly didn’t have much spare dosh either as they just tarted up the original bathroom suite themselves with bright pink paint, black and white lino, and gold water-lily and swan wallpaper (which keeps peeling off!). Despite the gaudy colour scheme, the bathroom is gloomy and depressing….I can’t bear to close the door when I’m using it and we spend as little time as possible in there, even brushing our teeth in the kitchen sink(!). No matter how much we clean, it still feels grubby….even our dog, Marty, looks so sad when he’s made to go for a wash! I dream of swapping our grotty old bath for a spacious walk in shower, storage for our toiletries and colourful patterned floor tiles. Having a modern and bright bathroom which utilises the space well and is finished to a high standard would make a massive difference to our enjoyment of our home – just the thought of being able to enjoy a relaxing power-shower after a long day at work is bliss!
