We moved into a new house last October and we were so excited that we could 'move straight in and nothing needed doing'. The day after we moved in I took a shower in the bathroom, only to find that the entire floor flooded and the water was not draining away. We tried using a Home Emergency service to clear the blockage, but it did no good. We were advised that we would have to take out the entire shower, which also meant taking up the floor to get to the root of the problem. We discovered that all the plumbing was wrong and there was no elevation on the drainage, and that the existing heavy shower tray was flattening the waste. There was also a leak which was causing damp and we had to leave the floor to dry out. We were so devastated, as the person we bought the house from had obviously concealed the problem. The bathroom looked perfect when we moved in, now it looks in a complete state, and we spent all our money on the house move!
