Latest review:Fireplaces & Flues-I hired Leigh to repair the chimney on a 3 story building. He first came to give me a quote on the job. He convinced me that he would have to hire a cherry picker to get to the roof. On the day of the job, he brought just a ladder, said the cherry picker wasn't available. Completed the job after a few hours and told me he would send me an invoice. The invoice was just an email describing the job he'd done and the things he needed and at the end the price, which was the same as he quoted. Eager to learn about pricing, I asked him to give details on the cost of everything. It didn't bother him to charge me double the hourly rate of the aerial guys who came the same week, multiply by 5 at least the price of parts (bricks/sand/cement) and charge for the ladder hire (doesn't own one it seems) twice the price I could have rented it for. When I pointed this out to him he eventually took a quarter of the price out when really a fair price without the cherry picker would have been half the price he quoted. I got a second quote afterterwards which confirmed what I thought. I blame myself for accepting his quote before getting a second one so I accepted paying more than I should have done. Still after all this he shared with me that he thought he was "being unfairly treated"...

Latest review:Bricklaying-Paul and his team started a little late because of another job. However he kept me informed regularly. When quoting for the job he gave a choice of fixed price or labour and materials, As there were a number of unknowns that we agreed a materials and labour approach. The work commence (phase 1) at the beginning of October and completed 6 weeks later. During the six weeks the weather was awful the actual work took approx 15 days. The team were efficient, courteous and helpful, Along the way some aspects of the work were changed at my request and some good ideas came from the team making the finished phase 1 of the job. I have already hired the team for phase 2 which willstart in the Spring date to be agreed between us. It is often thought that fixed price is best but in this case labour and materials was better for the followiing reasons: a) Flexibility- able to change direction which happened several times b)

Latest review:Fireplaces & Flues-Thomas and team were excellent, I can highly recommend them. They are professional, kept to schedule, kept to the agreed price, offered suggestions and came up with solutions for different and difficult situations. They worked on an old Georgian house for me, with many unknowns, and multiple fireplaces and flues. Chimneys were swept and everything tidied up. A further redesign of a kitchen fireplace and installation of a cooker and surrounds was undertaken with fantastic results. Great to deal with and I look forward to working with them in the future.
