Jargon by trade

An Alarm Receiving Centre - a remote office that monitors alarm notifications and provides support, contacting either the home owner, an emergency contact, or the emergency services.

Audible-only alarm

An alarm that sets off an audible or visual alert in and around your home when triggered.


Closed-circuit television - a system of cameras that can be privately monitored.

Monitored alarm

An alarm connected to an ARC and monitored by an external company.


National Security Inspectorate; a body that monitors member security companies to ensure they meet certain standards.


Security System and Alarm Inspection Board; A certification body for organisations providing security systems and fire detection services.
