Carpet fitting trade jargon
- Door bar
Also known as cover strips, these cover carpet joins at doorways or protect a heavily used piece of carpet from wear.
A strip of sharp pins fitted to the floor at the edges of a room, to which a carpet is stretched and attached.
- Knee kicker
A tool used by carpet fitters to help stretch a carpet into place.
- Tufted carpet
A most common style of modern carpet, cheaper to produce than woven carpets.
- Woven carpet
A style of carpet, typically patterned and multi-coloured. They are usually hard wearing but more expensive than tufted carpets. Axminster and Wilton carpets are woven types.
