Hi, we are going to fit third shower/toilet in our house soon. Everything about hot water in the house at the moment comes from a gas boiler. The boiler is pretty new, about two years old; however, we have felt that the boiler is already struggling a bit. We're looking for an electric cylinder for the third shower, so that we can have a power shower without waiting for hot water available if someone else is using. My question is (a) does it sound a feasible approach? (b) do we need to bring second water mains into our house to connect the cylinder? (c) any other cost-effective solutions (other than having an electric shower)? Thanks very much!

if you only want the water for a shower then an electric shower would be cheapest option,if you want extra hot water then a tank/boiler is your best option,you can get a cylinder with twin heating elements,1 to work of economy 7 and 1 as a backup for use during daytime.you would not have to get a new mains supply, regards Terry.

It's feasible but a waste of time space and money - you would be better off fitting a good electric shower 10.5kw or over. Easy to fit and easy to maintain

Yes is possible to have hot water instantly with adding second permanently circulating hot water pipe close to the shower mixer( like in Hospital). Al do not viable option in domestic scenario unless solar thermal system or large well insulated cylinder already present .And secondly high heat losses due to permanent circulation of hot water to the mixing point.
