move gas meter to outside wall as front door hits it

We live in a maisonette, just moved front door coming in hits the bracket holding meter it could come loose who can move it outside?

Only a gas safe engineer with the relevant qualification can carry out this work! When he/she arrives ask to see their Gas Safe I.D. Look on the back of his license and if you see 'Meter' amongst other qualifications then he/she is qualified to relocate the meter. If not then politely ask them to leave. Response: APF Plumbing Services below are mistaken in stating that "You need to speak with your gas supplier about moving the meter itself as they are the only ones allowed to move it" This information is not correct, and only applies if you wanted the incoming gas service & meter moved, then your gas transporter is the only body who can carry out this work, but it is the meter you require to be re-located so my previous comments still stand. NB: Many people offer opinions here and some are based on fact others however well meaning, are inaccurate. So unless you are stating a fact then please refrain from giving out misleading information!

You need to speak with your gas supplier about moving the meter itself as they are the only ones allowed to move it. Once the meter has been moved a gas safe engineer can work on the pipework feeding the house and run a new gas pipe into the house to connect on to your existing gas pipework. Edit- I apologize if my advice was incorrect. I perhaps mistakenly assumed that the original poster was looking to move the meter/ecv and service pipe to a new position outside as it was in the way.
