407 Questions: Extensions
We are in the process of an extension.
I'm not sure why but we decided to measure it and found that it is 6cms smaller on the inside on both the dimensions across the room. Is this acceptable or can we make them get it right?
Is there a tolerance that they work to?
Any advice would be appreciated.

I am having a single story flat roof extension to my bungalow, 4.8m out from the back, with a glazed opening of 4.060m in a 6.445m width cavity wall.
Roof is of standard timber joists & sterling boards with GRP finish - so little weight to support above - whats best option for supporting the opening?

I plan to add a conservatory type extension to the rear of my property. As this is on a slope, I will need to create access from the kitchen down to the new level.
I don't understand the building regs regarding head hights, but wanted to run stairs partly in the kitchen and partly in the new extension to save loosing too much kitchen space.
Any ideas would be gratefully received!

I like the idea of using a timber frame (with timber cladding) to add a first floor to a single story property. I'm thinking it may be cheaper, quicker and better insulated (as well as being made from a renewable material). Subject to planning (and suitable foundations) is this a good idea?

I currently have a single story extension at the back of my terraced 3 bedroom, now 4 bedroom house the extension was built about 4 years ago. Is it possible to get permission to build a second story on this extension. On the current extension the wall on one side is next to the property boundary and the other side is 1m away for a garden door. I just wanted to extend the upstairs bedroom the toilet and the hall way 3m onto the extention to the end.

Me and my co-worker are on our way to starting our extension service. Both of us are qualified drafts-men, and have worked in the industry before. This is the first time we have decided to go free lance and I have a couple of questions.
These questions are painfully obvious, I know, but I just want to get a clear cut perspective.
1- as I drafts man what drawings am I expected to provide? (Including the ones I would show the client, builders, and council)
2- Other than work force, and materials supply what other fundamental costs are involved?
3- How is the fee distributed amongst the workforce?
4- are there any services I need to pay for the builders I.e. scafolding?
5- is there anything else of great important I should take into account?

Up to how many metres can I go out from main building to make new REAR kitchen extension?
Can I go 5 metres out from the building with planning permission? Would they permit to build 5m times 5.5m*(house width) kitchen to a semi-detached property?
My property is in RM3 (Harold Wood, Romford)
