Shower pump is activating every hour since yesterday evening without shower running. We have been using the same pump for years and recently replaced it with the brand new one (same brand – Salamander). The noise is the same as usual and every hour it just starts working without shower being turned on and stops after a 20 seconds or so. When shower is working pump is working normally. We looked around the pump and hot water tank (located next to the pump) and pipes leading from/to it, and we cannot see any leaks. The pump is connected only to shower and washing machine.

Our guess is that the pump will keep up the pressure in the pipes leading to washing machine and the shower, hence that the reason for every hour brief activity may be that those pipes are leaking somewhere, thus making the pump sense reducing pressure and turning ON to top-up the pressure. Is our guess correct? Can there be other reasons? Is there anything we can check further?
