support timbers on staircase have woodworm damage
hi, our staircase is fixed to the wall one side and the other is held up with what looks like square timbers. We found woodworm in stairs and had them sprayed. we have noticed that a few of the support timbers have woodworm damage at the base up to around an inch. Is it worth replacing the support timbers or will they be okay?
many thanks
NB: the other side of the stairs is all made into cupboards and we only have access to the inside of these. Would support plates be able to be fitted on this basis?

Gap between between stairs and wall
Hi,
There is a gap of approx a quarter of an inch between the plank which holds up the stairs and the wall. This has previously been filled and doesn't feel unstable. Could someone tell me if this means that the stairs could collapse and requires remedial work?
The plank I mean is the one that the treads slot into and sits against the wall the entire length of the stairs.
Many thanks

I had my stairs sprayed for woodworm a month ago and now have a nasty smell there
Ever since the understairs and floorboards/joists has been sprayed there is a smell that sticks in your throat. It doesn't smell of sewage so hoping it isn't a cracked drain. Thos wassprayed a month ago.
The house is an old 1930's semi and the sub-floor ventilation isn't all it could be and the soil underneath is damp, but by no means wet. When the man came to spray the woodworm he also dug some of this out.
Could this be the cause?
I honestly can't afford any hefty repair bills.
Many thanks

Laminate flooring bouncy against edge of wall and patio door
Hi,
My laminate flooring (think it's hard wood) is a bit bouncy by the patio doors and by the edge of the wall. It doesn't feel like it will fall though or anything.
Can anyone shed any light on this? I don't fancy having to
resort to ripping the whole lot up and replacing it!Many thanks!
