Rob did an excellent job, very professional and swift service, from initially coming round to see the job in person to returning 2 days later to complete the job exactly as quoted, Rob was very friendly, polite and efficient. Would certainly recommend Rob and plan to have him back to service our different gas appliances.Review from Customer of R H Blair Plumbing Heating and Gas Services Customer of R H Blair Plumbing Heating and Gas Services

Review left on 24 Jan 2017Rating: 1 out of 5Moving of pipes(Updated on 30 Jan 2018)Rob called me back promptly, came for a visit and advised me that he needed to spend longer understanding where the pipes linked to. He told me that he would need to charge for surveying the installation so he could provide me with a view as to how the job would be tackled. We set a date but it was very difficult to tie Rob down and he kept cancelling/rearranging. He finally came over pre-Xmas, moved clothes out of way, looked in the loft, put the clothes back and informed me that he would have to go through the ceiling rather than from top down due to joists. He charged me for 90 mins of time. He advised that a larger hole needed to be cut. We did this and asked him to come and finish the job. Until this point he had said the job would take a day....he suddenly started saying it would take longer and then said he needed to come back again to quote despite charging me for surveying. On the day he was due to come round he didn't call but when I sent a message asking where he was, he rang me, said he was unwell and he was also really busy and therefore would call at a later date regarding the job. I have not heard from him. I would not use Rob for any complex jobs. Despite having worked in 'Buckingham Palace', I am not convinced he was confident in being able to do this job and instead wasted our time. We have now found someone who was able to complete the job in one day.Answer from tradesperson:
This is a somewhat late response to this feedback. However, during the past year since this comment was posted, I have been fully booked with work and have received no negative comments from my clients. I have only just picked up this review, remember the job extremely well and I have to respond to it. Initially the job was moving pipework. I went round to survey the job and came to the conclusion that the only way to move the pipework to the position required by the client was to gain access through the ceiling. I initially quoted that moving the pipework would take about a day to do. Once the hole had been cut however and I returned to the job, it was clear that this job was more complex than originally anticipated. I explained to the client that I would come back and carry out the work. Unfortunately I fell ill and had to take time off from work. As any self-employed trader can testify, taking a single day off through illness is an extreme measure and is not taken lightly. When I rang the client to explain that I would not be able to attend due to illness she didn't respond but merely put the phone down on me and would not respond to further calls. I take exception that this client is questioning my professional ability after more than 40 years' experience. Incidentally I received no complaints from from the rigs, building sites and a range of domestic settings - including Buckingham Palace. (The client did ask for the length and breadth of my experience.)
