Very happy with John and his team. They are knowledgeable, work quickly, and are friendly people (important when working on long term projects!). Will definitely be using them again.

    General improvements
We hired John and his team to do some work back in Feb. This consisted of some remodeling and reconstruction work. We decided to go with him after finding him through mybuilder.com. I cannot recommend John and his team highly enough. They were super efficient, really tidy, got the job done quickly without rushing it and all for a very reasonable price. The guys John employs are highly skilled and their finish was second to none. Don't hesitate to use these guys. Highly recommended!!!!!!!!!

    Kitchen extension

Look no further! John Sandars is your next builder! Reasonable pricing, really great finish and workmanship, clean, helpful and a good communicator. These are some of the attributes of John and his team that made a tricky job easy. We knocked through from the galley kitchen into the dining room to create a large kitchen diner. We had to put in an RSJ, move the boiler, brick up the old kitchen door to the garden and also install new bigger patio doors as well as fit a new kitchen. So not a small job. John's team were extremely knowledgeable and helpful at every step. Any issues (such as a leaking bath upstairs) were found and fixed early. Additional requests were taken on without hassle or inflating the budget. He made helpful suggestions and used his experience and contacts to minimise costs. The team were very polite and clean. It was a dusty job but nothing in the house was damaged or in a worse condition than when they arrived. I would highly recommend working with John and will be using him for other building works in future.

    Remove kitchen/dining room wall
I had my kitchen/ dining room wall knock down to create an open plann kitchen and dining room. I also my kitchen door blocked off and relocation of radiator. John was the only one from my builder I contacted for a quote. I just felt after meeting him that he was the one. He was professional in his approach and gave me the best quote. John is a great guy and is team were all hard working. John was very accommodating to any changes or suggestions i requested. They cleared up nicely at the end of each day. They did a fabulous job and compted the work right on schedule . I would recommend him to anyone.

Could you quote me for a loft extension

John and his team were brilliant, I met with several companies and John was the only one that really listened to what we wanted, the most approachable and the most knowledgeable. His experience speaks for itself, his encyclopedic knowledge of buildings and materials is incredible and he calmly took us through the whole process and not once did we feel exhausted or confused or disgruntled by the build. Everyday, everything was cleaned and put away, the whole team were extremely considerate and felt like part of the family by the end of it. Can't recommend John enough and if we ever need any work done on the house wouldn't hesitate to use John again.

    Kitchen/dining room/ hallway knockthrough
John and his team did a knock through between our kitchen and dining room. They were very professional and always kept us completely up to date with any new developments. When we realised the plans we'd had drawn up by an architect would mean putting in more intrusive support beams in the walls than we had anticipated John provided an alternative route to completing the work that was structurally sound and a cleaner finish - even though it meant more work for his team and a change in scope. The quote was reasonable and we are very happy with the final result and would hire John again.

Side return extension to Victorian terraced house

We hired John and his team to build a side return extension to our existing kitchen. We are very happy with the end result and we would absolutely recommend John to others. John was very professional and he clearly had lots of experience. He completed the project on time and on budget. He was patient when we took a while to make decisions and made helpful suggestions. John's team are a credit to him. They are polite, hardworking, and very clean and tidy. We were living on site throughout the work (with a small child) and they made a real effort to ensure that everything was left as clean as possible at the end of the day. The work was done to a very high standard and nothing was too much trouble. John is honest, true to his word and has integrity. We trusted him and his men to be in our home whilst we were out at work. We project managed the work to keep costs down and John helped us out when other third parties let us down. We will definitely be asking John to complete other projects at our home in the future.

    Refurb of 3 bedroom house
John impressed us by managing to get our project underway very quickly (3 bed house refurb). He and his team got cracking from day 1, the work was done to a high standard, and he was always contactable which was important to us. He manage to deal with all the challenges we threw at him, and it was a pleasure working with him and his boys. No hesitation in recommending John and his crew, and plan to use him again in the near future.

Overhaul of downstairs rooms including structural work

Our job included knocking through a supporting wall and inserting a steel beam, a new wooden floor, skirting boards, doors and architraves, installing a decorative fireplace, building shelves and painting three rooms. It was clear from John’s reviews that he had vast experience in this type of job and from our first meeting he obviously knew what he was doing. He made a good first impression in terms of his professionalism and standards of care which were important to us as we were going to be living in the house while the work went on. All of the people who worked on the job were prompt, diligent and polite, leaving our rooms as tidy and clean as possible so we could use them in the evenings. John was a calm project manager who didn’t allow the little changes of plan which came up occasionally to bother him. If there were decisions to be made, he tended to present options and allowing us to make the choices, especially on decorative issues. This was an approach which we appreciated. John wasn’t typically doing the work himself but we felt our decisions / instructions were quickly communicated to his team and John was always willing to pop by in the evenings and update us on progress / discuss any changes we wanted making. The job was completed within the budget and timeframe John originally laid out, and we are happy with the standard of workmanship and care that went into it. We would recommend John for similar jobs and would use him again in future.

4m Structural wall removal to form Kitchen-Diner

I have absolutely no reservations about recommending John for any building work you might be thinking about pursuing. My wife and I hired John to renovate our kitchen and dining room by knocking through a wall between them and installing the new kitchen, and we’re thrilled with the results. John and his tradesmen were responsible for all types of work in the project: general building, bricking in an old doorway, electrical, plumbing, plastering, tiling, etc. From the very outset John was always clear, reliable, and honest. He gave us a clear quote, and he stuck to it. His quote was not the cheapest, but it was the most realistic, and he took more interest in our aims for the work than other builders we spoke to. John also stuck to the timeframe that he proposed (both daily and over the course of the project). Where there were any extra things along the way, (we thought of a few extra things we wanted as things were moving along) John was very clear about costs, options and time implications. We needed to keep to a tight budget, and John helped us by suggesting solutions that accomplished our aims in less expensive ways – for example with LED lighting and with the structural modifications. When we had strong preferences, though, John did not shy away from the work and provided what we asked for exactly as we asked for it, even if it took more time and effort. Throughout the project we were always impressed with the quality of work and their attentiveness to detail.
