The works entailed the re-roofing of a 3-storey, double-fronted detached property in East Teignmouth, plus the restoration of a small terrace on the top floor and refurbishment of a covered walkway at first floor level to the rear and one side of the building. From the beginning I knew that Hugh was going to do a good job. His quotation was correctly detailed, right down to areas that might involve extra work once revealed; and it was clear that he had good connections with specialised tradesmen such as lead-workers and blacksmiths,as well as scaffolders, flat-roofers and double-glazing fabricators. Work started promptly and continued steadily through the various stages of demolition and reconstruction. I should add that I am a retired builder myself and I was pleased to see that no corners were cut at any stage. Hugh kept us informed of his progress at all times. Work progressed throughout the summer and was completed with virtually no time lost and no variation to the quoted price other than those extras which we arranged during the course of the contract. The finished effect is extremely gratifying and we wouldn't hesitate to use him again. His strengths are his organisational abilities, his pleasant manner and his comprehensive knowledge of the craft. I have no difficulty in recommending his firm to anyone desiring a first-class service!
