We sent out several enquiries. Of the quotes we received the Brondes Group’s was the most detailed which showed me that they had thought about how to structure the works. Also the way payment was agreed gave me confidence to hire them. Although everything had been planned carefully we twice came across unforeseen surprises. The first time parts of the existing ceiling was unsuitable for new plaster and had to be replaced (extra costs). This meant unplanned additional works, which the guys did on a Sunday to keep the programme on track. The second time an existing hidden pipe was discovered that had been leaking for some time, which meant that walls and floor had been soaked. The entire area had to dry out for 1 ½ weeks before works could proceed. Overall this meant a knock-on effect and delay to the works in this area. As an architect I know that all of the above, i.e. unforeseen issues are part and parcel of every job, no matter how good you plan it. The main issue is how you can resolve these situations amicably and constructively. We found in these situations that Landi and Patrick were fair, reasonable and most of all understood we had a limited budget (including contingency) and had to work within the given constraints and still get the job done. Overall I can say that we experienced Landi and his men to be friendly, honest, hard working, reliable, and wanting to do a good job. For these reasons I’m more than happy to recommend them.

Being a first-time homebuyer, I was concerned about finding a trustyworthy builder that could do my renovations on time and to a high standard. Thankfully, we found Brondes Group, and they did an excellent job from start to finish. We decided to replace the laminate flooring with hardwood oak, install under-floor heating throughout, re-fit a bathroom, replace the kitchen worktop, fit floor-to-ceiling shelving in the lounge and finish everything off with a coat of paint. Patrick Blair became our main contact and project manager throughout the job. He was very patient, walking us through all stages of renovation, providing detailed quotations, and was flexible and accommodating. Patrick, and his colleague Landi, were excellent at sourcing and suggesting materials that would meet our aesthetic requirements within budget. Although we were not living in the apartment during most of the renovation period, the work crew always kept the site organised and tidy—a good sign of diligent craftsmen. The end result exceeded our expectations. The work was finished on time, even though we added additional repairs along the way. I have since recommended the Brondes Group to both colleagues and friends, and when I get around to doing that second bathroom, I’m sure we’ll get them back. I highly recommend Patrick and Landi. They originally came to our house to fix a window ledge and leaking toilet, and did such a great job I recently had them back to fix several building jobs done improperly by previous builders such as a leaking bath, broken pane of glass and several inconveniently placed cabinets in the kitchen that were limiting access to my boiler. I was really impressed with the cost-effective and innovative solutions they came up with for all the problem areas. Their prices are reasonable and their work is of high standard - they describe themselves as perfectionists and that is exactly what they are. They were able to do everything from fixing the leaking bath problem to the actual construction of new cabinets and were able to replace the pane of glass at minimal cost. They came to assess the problems free of cost before starting the work. One final note - they (at no extra cost) cleaned up all building materials and even the old broken pane of glass they had replaced - usually builders will leave you to deal with any of your old materials but these guys thoughtfully disposed of them. I would happily give them any further verbal reference and would certainly hire them in the future. Jennifer Maitland

Patrick and Landi did a great job. What I liked most was their can-do attitude and reliability. They turned-up on time and tidied at the end of each day. They worked tirelessly to finish the bookcase on time and I feel satisfied with the end result. I will definitely have them back for more jobs around the house.
