Sash windows installation

  • Location: Forest Gate
  • Hired: Your Timber Windows Ltd
  • Trade: Windows
Job Description

I have windows for:
downstairs:
-bay window
upstairs:
-front bedroom x2
-rear bedroom x1

They are wooden sliding sash - spring loaded (easy to install)
They come with detailed plans, additional fixtures.
Bought from http://www.countryhardwood.com/

Extra materials needed:
I will provide: Window boards, 4x4 inch timber.
Needed:
Expandable foam.

The house is victorian, the walls aren't in great condition. The frames are very thick (6.5 inch) so there may be some planing down needed. Also to make them sit flush with interior walls some of the exterior ornamental feature on the bay may have to be grinded down - worst case.

Think thats it, any questions let me know.

Temporarily remove window to get sofa into front room

  • Location: Bristol
  • Hired: BRISTOL CARPENTRY COMPANY
  • Trade: Windows
Job Description

This is a pretty simple and hopefully quick job. We moved into a Victorian terraced house where we can't get the sofa round the hallway corner and into the room we want it in. We therefore need help to remove the windows in the front of the house to pass the sofa into the living room.

It's going to involve temporarily removing one of the uPVC frames of a three-sided bay window, complete with glass, while we pass the sofa into the room, then replacing the window. Removing only the glass will not be enough. They are standard white plastic uPVC frames installed in about 2008.

The job will also probably require the mastic/silicone sealant to be replaced around the edging when the frame goes back in place.

Thanks

I am a landlord looking to fix the existing rotten ground floor timber window frames. Pending the quote I will consider replacing with new timber frames or installing uPVC windows.

At the moment, all windows are single glazed and a mix of wooden and metal frames. I believe it is just the ground floor that would require fixing but pending the quite will consider upgrading all windows in the house to uPVC.
