Fixing/Replacing leaking yorkstone front door steps
- Location: Bromley By Bow
- Hired: hawkins restoration
- Trade: Stonemasonry
- Positive feedback on 3rd Jul 12
Job Description
I live in Bow E3. My front door steps are original york stone leading up to a victorian terrace. There are five steps about 4 ft wide. What was the old coal hole underneath is now leaking. I use it for storage and the electric and gas meters are located here. I want to stop the water leaking in. I don't know if only a part of the steps needs to be replaced or the whole of the steps. I know that york stone can be very expensive and was wondering if concrete might work out a lot cheaper. I don't like asphalt or tiling as some of my neighbours have done.

Render & paint two areas of brick wall
- Location: Lewisham
- Hired: Stuart Horn
- Trade: Stonemasonry
- Positive feedback on 19th Mar 12
Job Description
Render two separate areas of wall where the brickwork was damaged or affected by damp and for general aesthetic purposes. Seal the top and edges to prevent water seeping into the render and any other appropriate damp treatment that is recommended. One section of wall is above a drain area which in the past has not drained away fully and water has seeped into the walls. The work may also include painting the surface depending on the cost of this element. I would guess / estimate that one section is 1.5m wide by up to 4m high, and the other is up to 4m wide and 2-2.5m high. Thank you!

Job Description
The concrete, outside window sill to a downstairs (easily accessible) room has cracked and a sizeable chunk has fallen off. I'd like the window sill repaired.
* Added 15th May, 2011 :
You can see the condition of the sill in the photo. As an additional small job, there is a small gap between the concrete facing on the flat and the main drainpipe (visible in the other photo) which I'd like filled in as I think some water has penetrated through this hole into the flat.
