Repair to ceiling in bedroom
- Location: Bedford
- Hired: WW Bespoke Joinery and General Contractors
- Trade: Restoration & Refurbishment
- Positive feedback on 17th Apr 13
Job Description
There is a small area in the ceiling in one of the bedrooms which has come down. The bedroom is on the first floor and there is an attic room above which is unaffected, so apparently the floor and wall of the attic room are OK. Wonder whether water has penetrated the wall (?) or has run down the roof hip. Nothing is apparent on external inspection.

repair low dividing brick wall
- Location: Hitchin
- Hired: peter dolling property maintenance
- Trade: Restoration & Refurbishment
- Positive feedback on 31st Mar 11
Job Description
Put coping stone or similar onto old brick wall between properties, to tidy it up and prevent further deterioration.
The wall is 29 feet (approx 9 metres) long, and one brick (8.5 inches or 22 cm) wide.
Also, I thought it might look good if the crumbly side of the brickwork could be rendered to disguise the tatty brickwork.

Ceiling plaster, painting, coving, re-grout tiles
- Location: Bedford
- Hired: Bedfordshire Property Refurbishment
- Trade: Restoration & Refurbishment
- Positive feedback on 28th Mar 11
Job Description
Minor water damage to a section of the downstairs ceiling requires new plasterboard ( approx half a sheet of plasterboard), texturing and painting to match rest of ceiling. The water has also run down one small section of wall, ceiling to floor (approx 60cm wide). This requires re-painting. Its a mid terrace so no high ceilings.
The other main piece of work is in the bathroom above. It is a small box bathroom (2m x 2m) which requires coving to be replaced and painted. The coving has been removed from part of the room for titling with once section still remaining. This remaining coving can either be removed and the whole lot replaced or the missing sections just fitted to match (I am flexible on this). In addition, the floor tiles require re-grouting due to cracking and sealing along the walls. These tiles are on top of electric underfloor heating which has been installed and checked by a qualified electrician.
2 minor jobs are also required
1. Remove and fill 2 wall plugs and paint over to match the wall,
2. Fill 2 holes made for speaker wire and paint to match the rest of the wall
Paint to match the walls and ceilings will be provided. All other material will need to be supplied by the tradesman
Ideally the work would be carried out on a weekend but a weekday is possible.

Remove paint from exterior of brick house
- Location: Harpenden
- Hired: Property Restoration Services
- Trade: Restoration & Refurbishment
- Positive feedback on 1st Sep 10
Job Description
The front of my house was painted by a previous owner and I would like this paint to be removed and the original brickwork restored.
Before giving up and having it re-painted, I'd appreciate any skilled tradesmen WITH PROVEN PRIOR EXPERIENCE OF EXTERIOR PAINT REMOVAL FROM BRICKWORK to quote me for stripping the paint and cleaning the brickwork. I will be looking for any tradesperson to visit and quote so whilst indicative quotes submitted online would be useful, I appreciate that a full site visit will be necessary before a price can be agreed. Please be prepared to show photographs and/ or examples and references for prior work of this type as I'm reluctant to risk major abuse to the front of my property to anyone that I cannot be completely confident in. Apologies to anyone this excludes.
It is only the front elevation of the house which is painted, so hopefully you can get an approximate idea of the area.
We'd also need the brickwork re-pointed etc to most of the house after the work is complete, but we can work that out after.
