Hello there,I have just moved into a new property,I have a basement in this property and i have the washing machine there, the water pipe is installed, however I do not know how to connect the fitting to the pipe as its a strange looking fitting to me.....and as its a basement they have installed a water pump to pump water up and oot, and I would like to have it plumbed in correctly.hopefully you can help many thanks Stephen

I am in the process of buying a second-floor flat in Battersea (Queenstown Road) and I have had a Homebuyers Report prepared by my surveyor. The following are extracts from the report:

1. "The mains gas supply is connected to a meter installed in a built-in wardrobe in the front bedroom. The isolation valve is old and the handle is not currently in place. It should be replaced with modern fittings so that the handle 'falls to off'. The installation now needs to be checked and tested by an appropriate qualified gas engineer to determine the extent of any upgrading works."

2. "The rising mains water supply, the visible section of which is in lead pipework, is connected to an open polypropylene cold water storage tank situated in the loft. The pipe work is of varying materials and ages which may eventually lead to leakage. The cold water storage tank does not have any lead or insulation. Some potential purchasers might consider lead pipework to be a longterm health concern.

3. "It is not known whether any other flats are served by the same rising water main or whether the supplies have been correctly separated."

The flat has 2 x bedrooms, 1 reception room, 1 bathroom, 1 kitchen and 1 loft space.

Please provide me with a quote for:

1. Pre-purchase gas/plumbing inspection (is the gas and plumbing compliant with current regulations?)
2. Checking the isolation valve and reporting as to whether or not it needs upgrading.
3. Further to the second extract above, checking the pipework and reporting on its condition and whether it should be replaced.
4. Quote for replacement of any lead pipes.
5. Further to the third extract above, checking whether any of the other 5 flats within the building are served by the same rising water main or whether the supplies have been correctly separated. (Am I keen to ensure that I am not buying a flat with low water pressure.)
