Skim walls and ceiling, plasterboard ceiling.
- Location: Islington
- Hired: First Fix Group
- Trade: Plastering
- Positive feedback on 21st May 13
Job Description
The room is 4.2m * 4.2m approx. The walls are generally in good condition. However we have had the place re-wired and although this has been plastered, there are numerous inconsistencies so a re-skim would provide a better finish. The ceiling is more complicated, as it is in relatively poor condition. I believe it to be lath plaster, so re-skimming may not be an option. I'd also like a second quote, to include painting of walls, heat-torching skirting and painting/sanding skirting on top of the skimming of the walls in the lounge. We are rennovating the whole property, but only at a speed allowed by our finances! Therefore, there is likely to be further work (skimming walls in all rooms at a minimum), but not as part of this initial job. We want to get one room ready so we have somewhere to relax while working on others!
Re-skim walls and ceiling

- Hired: Pat the Plasterer
- Trade: Plastering
- Positive feedback on 21st May 13
Job Description
We are doing a conversion of our old kitchen into a utility and downstairs toilet. The removal of all the old tiling has taken a measure of the existing skim off with it, in other places there are numerous screw holes where the cupboards were fitted. Would also like the ceiling done.
Room is approx 3m x 3m.
There will probably be a small follow up job once the studding wall is installed for the toilet.

Job Description
Hi
1. Skimming a plasterboard ceiling approx 2.9m x 3.7m. It has some matt emulsion on it and has been skimmed before (but not to a very high standard).
and
2. Skimming around 9m of wall (2.08m high) - just to smarten it all up - including hacking off and repairing on patch around 1m2 near the window where the original plaster has blown.
It would be good to get it done before the 22 May or fairly soon after the 29 May if possible.
Many thanks
Michael

Replastering following damp problems

Job Description
For the past 2 years my internal walls have suffered from repeated water damage due to faults in the roof. The council (who owns the building) has finally redone the roof so I can now get on with remedying the internal damage.
I would like to get a sense of the cost of the repairs before deciding whether to involve my home insurance. (I am only interested in the replastering costs (for now at least) as I intend to re-paint myself)
Here's a rough approximation of what needs repairing (although I expect that any accurate estimate will require an actual inspection of the damage):
One room requires one entire wall redone (width 4m, height 2m) and the strip of ceiling adjoining that wall.
Another room has suffered localised damage (a strip of the ceiling along the wall - width 3.7m; a strip of the side wall along the corner - height 2m; another corner; area above the two windows - 1m wide each)
The corridor ceiling has been damaged in one area (~ 0.8x0.6m)
The living room has a slight damp mark on the ceiling (~1.5mx0.4) which may need replastering too.
Is it possible to replaster only the areas that have been damaged without having to replaster the whole wall/ceiling?
I am also unsure about the timing of the repairs as I have been told that replastering should only be undertaken once the walls have fully dried out (otherwise the remaining moisture would damage the new plaster). Considering that the roof has only just been repaired, I imagine it will be a while before that happens...
I look forward to hearing from you,
Alison

Job Description
I have a whole house to be plastered but would like one room done asap so my cousin can move in. The room is 4m by 3.5m with almost 3m high ceilings. One wall is external with a window so would like it rendered and another is a party wall. The rest are plaster boarded. Hope to hear from you as not had much luck finding a reliable plasterer of late.
