Garden makeover
- Location: Cradley Heath
- Hired: A-2-B Handyman Services
- Trade: Landscape Gardening
- Positive feedback on 20th May 13
Job Description
Our garden is around 130 foot long and around 33 foot wide. The garden slopes gently away from the house for around 70 foot and then falls away at around a 45 degree slope for the remaining length. This area is heavily shaded by a large tree (not in our garden) and is not really usable. However, brambles and nettles grow in profusion so they act as a good deterrent to burglars and cannot be seen from the house so we would not wish to have anything undertaken in that area. There is a 6 foot high fence at the very bottom of the garden that requires extensive repair / replacement you will need to include as part of your quotation.
There is a shed and greenhouse (both in poor condition) that sit on elevated slabbed plinths just before the steep part of the garden commences. In order to provide a level sitting area, I would like you to to include as part of your quotation a full width decking area that would extend to create an area approximately 15 foot deep that would join seamlessly to the existing garden at one end and extend out over part of the unusable part of the garden.
We believe the existing green house is capable being of being repaired (several new windows are required) and this needs to be relocated on the decked area. The shed (8 x6) is in poor condition and will probably need to be replaced on the decking area as well. You should include for the provision of a shed in your quotation. The under deck area will need to be "weed proofed" too.
Access to this area is via a sloped gravel path that needs replaced with something more structural (perhaps a slabbed stepped pathway) although this may not be required depending on how the middle section of the garden is landscaped.
There is a low slotted concrete fence with trellising that runs part way across the garden adjacent to the shed. This may need to be removed depending on how the landscaping works are undertaken and the decking is installed. Essentially, the middle part of the garden needs to be landscaped with low maintenance in mind as we are both getting older ! We will be guided on landscaping issues by yourselves. The soil is very heavy clay but seems very fertile too.
There is also another low brick wall that part crosses the garden that will need to be removed although once again, if you can include it as part of the landscaping scheme, it may be left in situ.
Adjacent to the house is a blocked paved area that leads on to a grassed area. This paved area used to be large enough to enjoy before we had a conservatory and so we are now looking for the paved area to be extended to give back to us the area now taken up by our sun room or perhaps a slightly larger area even.
There may also be some other minor jobs identified when you assess the area.
We hope this gives you a brief overview of our requirements but a site visit will be essential to get a feel for the area.
We look forward to meeting you soon.
Regards
Jan and Brian Stone
