Trimming back ivy at side of house, removing frm chimney
- Location: Rochdale
- Hired: All Things Green
- Trade: Landscape Gardening
- Positive feedback on 25th Sep 12
Job Description
We live in a ten year old house, the house whenm we bought it had ivy growing up the side towards the chimeny this has got bigger amd is now touching the top of the chimney and roof and so we need to do something about it. We are unsure if to trim it back or remove it as we like the look but don't want to cause any damage. Some say kill it at the root wait for it to die before removing as it damages brickwork and some say pull off while it is green. Either way we wouldn't do this ourselves as we wouldn't want to damage the brickwork nor go to the top of the chimney on a ladder.
Advice and quotes greatly appreciated.

Rear Yard Requiring new fence, gate and re-flagging
- Location: Rochdale
- Hired: DPD brickwork & general builders
- Trade: Landscape Gardening
- Positive feedback on 9th Mar 11
Job Description
Approximte yard size: 20ft x 15ft on slight gradient.
Looking for the work to be started late Feb/Early March 2011.
Description of job:
1/. We are reclaiming some of our rear yeard from our neighbours. To do this we will require a new fenced wall to be errected at the side of the yard. The issue here is that our yard is raised compared to the neighbours yard, so the new space that is created will need filling and levelling. The space created is approx 1 ft x 20ft, so just a thin slip of land.
The fenced wall that we require needs to be bricked at the base, with wooden fencing above, to match with the rest of the yard. The current walled fence is 9 bricks high from the floor, with wooden panelling above. I think its approx hight is 7ft.
2/. We would like the rear yard reflagging. The previous owners have left a combination of flags and loose stones, which is unsightly and not practical as we have a 2 year old daughter. We would just like this freshening up with new basic flags, and for a nice smooth level surface.
3/. The current outside drain that we have (For the sink etc) needs to be covered over when the yard is reflagged as my daughter seems to be drawn to playing there which I dont like.
4/. New garden gate requires fixing, coming off hinges. I think the supporting post requires rebolting to the fence
5/. The outside pipes on the rear of the house (waste water) require cleaning and re-painting, there is also a hole in thge brickwork where the new bathroom had been installed by previous owners and requires filling (only small).
6/. The rubble created from clearing the rear yard we would like to be used to fill the potholes that are at the front of our property. We live on an unadopted road and the potholes at the front of our house are a pain, so it seems quite useful to use any rubble created to fill these.
** There is access to the rear yard via a small alley way, if a skip etc is required by yourself. Neighbours do park here so it may be required to give them notice to leave space for the few days the work is being completed. **
Job Requirements:
* I will be looking for approx 5 quotes so that I can get the best price.
* Small deposit can be given but payment will be made once work has been completed (sorry, but there are far too many cowboys out there!!!)
* References will be required so that I can speak to people that have had work done so I can check the standard/reliability.
* Quick turn around required for job once date has been agreed
* Added 6th January, 2011 :
I would be looking to have the work done between 21 Feb and 24th Feb.
We are going away for a few days and I would like it to be a supprise for my g/f on our return.

Decking approx 19m2
- Location: Blackburn
- Hired: G L BUILDING SERVICES
- Trade: Landscape Gardening
- Positive feedback on 13th May 10
Job Description
Hi
We would like some decking constructing in our garden. It's quite a straight forward sigle level deck... width of 2.5m and length 7.3m. The decking will be going along a fence.
I would like some planters built in along both widths (top and bottom) instead of ballustrading and possibly along the length which is against the fence. I would also like to incorporate some built in seating on one width.
The area is pretty level and doesn't need much ground work.
Thanks
