Parking space & garden refresh + shed build & fencing

Job Description

Parking space & garden refresh + shed build & fencing

This is a multi-aspect job, not necessarily all at the same time (but can be if easier).

1) Small back garden (approx.5m x10m) needs clearing, levelling & turfing. It’ll need a small retainer wall and a fence;
2) Turning some end of terrace space into a parking area. Gravel most of it with some tarmac for the rest. Small railway sleeper retainer at the side;
3) Shed built in-between the garden and parking space. This needs to take a washing machine and the usual garden bits (lawnmower, trimmer, etc.)

4x6m Artificial Grass Preparation/Installation

  • Location: Bristol
  • Hired: Local Maintenance Solutions
  • Trade: Landscape Gardening
Job Description

The job is to prepare the existing 4m x 6m back garden lawn, for installation of artificial grass, to be supplied by a 3rd party.

The grass will be installed between existing patio and borders. Tanilised timber edging needs to be installed around some of the borders, to properly define them and contain the new substrate.

I just need the preparation work doing by a professional, as I don't have the tools or skills to get it done right.

I had planned to do the actual artificial grass installation myself, as there are no joins required & it's just a matter of trimming to the right size and shape and pinning in place, over the prepared area, but I am open to quotes which include a complete installation - please specify this in any response.

Instructions taken from: http://www.perfectlygreen.co.uk/faqs/installation-guide.html

Preparation (your bit)
* Properly define the flower borders, by installing tanilised timber edging.
* Using a turf cutter, remove the turf to a depth of 2 – 3 inches.
* Install the first layer of geotextile weed membrane on top of the soil.
* Fill the area with Type 1, sometimes known as MOT (crushed stone).
* Make sure the Type 1 is evenly spread, smooth off any humps with a rake.
* Compact the Type 1 with a wacker plate and blind off with a thin layer of sharp sand.
* Smooth the area off with either the back of a rake or a roller.
* Install the second layer of geotextile weed membrane and pin in position with 6 inch galvanized nails.

Installation (my bit - unless you want to quote for complete installation)
* Lay the artificial grass out and leave to settle for a couple of hours.
* Once you are happy the grass is flat, you can then cut it to shape using a sharp Stanley knife. Blades will need to be changed approximately every three metres of cutting.
* Using 6 inch galvanized nails, pin the turf every 6 – 12 inches around the edge.
* Hold the pile open and tap the nail in so the head of the nail is just touching the latex backing of the turf. Once in position, release the pile so it covers the nail.

* Added 12th September, 2012 :
The topsoil/spoil can be put in the very large raised-bed/planter next to the lawn plot, so this should reduce both effort & time lugging it offsite and time on the job.

The artificial grass is not yet ordered, but I'd like to proceed with the preparation ASAP, preferably with the job taking place on the 27th & 28th September. The grass installation can ba done at a later date & should take just an hour or two to lay.

Please can interested parties who are able to proceed as detailed and in the timeframe sugegsted, re-quote ASAP & I'll confirm the offer by this weekend.

Cheers,
