A team of British Gas came to fit loft insulation but they figured out it's not possible: there's an old insulation (70s) fitted attached to the sloping roof joists, with no air circulation. We should remove it ASAP since it's likely damaging the joists.

I'm looking to get the loft insulated, and possibly boarded as well - depending on cost. I'm in a semi-detached 1950s property, and there is some insulation up in the loft already, though I don't know if it needs replacing. Access to the loft is through a good-sized hatch with a built in ladder. I'm looking for quotes both for just the insulation, and also for insulation and boarding.

The area to be insulated is approximately 15ft by 20ft, and the hatch is 22in by 44in with a wooden ladder attached to it.
