retaining wall replaced and decking

  • Location: Bristol
  • Hired: i.w.j building and maintenance
  • Trade: Groundwork & Foundations
Job Description

Require a retaining wall to be taken down and replaced and to have some decking installed on two terraces as well as wooden stair access

* Added 16th June, 2012 :
A little more detail on the job. There are four levels including ground level in our back yard. We have three retaining walls of which two are less than 1 meter and are cracked and we are hoping that they can be repaired and camouflaged or taken out and replaced with a wooden fence. The third wall is about 1.6 meters in height and does not appear to have any drainage and is 1 brick thick with a few columns and is bowing. We would need this wall to be taken down and replaced with either another brick wall or sleeper wall (whichever is cheapest) Then the area above this wall to be lawn and decking to be installed, with steps leading down to the lower level.

The lower level will need a portion to be taken down to ground level for access to a sliding door, to be installed. This lower level will then be split into two with a garden fence of which one portion to have decking installed.

There is further work in the front garden, budget permitting and inside two arches to be squared off.

New drain for condensate pipe

Job Description

I am having a new boiler installed which needs a condensate pipe to a drain. Soakaway OR new Drain to join current Drain

  • Location: Bristol
  • Hired: 1st Call Plumbing Solutions
  • Trade: Groundwork & Foundations
Job Description

The Single story kitchen rood off the back addition of a Victorian Terrace, currently runs into a drain pipe that spills onto the garden. We have a subsidence claim going through and they have told us that we need to get this sorted.

Two options.
1) build a drain leading to a soakaway that is further from the property (Approx 5 meters is what I understand we'd have to do
2) Redo the Guttering to route the water back towards the drainage for the back extension, build a short drain ( less than two metres) to link to the existing drainage

I am not sure if our soil is appropriate for a soakaway, and equally I recognise I may need to get someone else to do the guttering bit

Look forward to hearing from you and any help or advice very welcome!

Labourer required to shift 10 tonnes of cotswold stone

  • Location: Bristol
  • Hired: SP Maintenance
  • Trade: Groundwork & Foundations
Job Description

I will be getting 10 tonnes of cotswold stone delivered. In order to get it to the back garden it will need to be loaded into a wheel barrow, one wheel barrow at a time, and wheeled to the back garden (a distance of about 40 metres most of it gradually sloping downhill - luckily).

(I can't use a dumper truck as it would ruin the front garden)

So someone with a spare morning or afternoon could easily do this job.

I will get the stone delivered to fit in with your availability. I'd like to get this done by the end of next week (i.e. by Friday 3rd June).
