fencing in back garden
- Location: Faversham
- Hired: gardalebuilder
- Trade: Fencing
- Positive feedback on 26th Nov 12
Job Description
The fence in my back garden needs attention. It was put in by previous owners 6 years ago. Whoever did the work did not put metal spike supports/concrete or protection on the posts under ground level. So they are simply planted in the earth. Hence the posts have rotted at the bottom and the fence is now swaying gently in the breeze! There are six fence posts - 67 inches above ground (no idea how deep they go) with finials on the top. The posts will need replacing - I'm guessing they are 4 x 4 inches. The five fence panels are 80 inches wide. They seem to all be in okay condition although they could probably do with a coat of cuprinol or something.
The fence runs along the middle of mine and my neighbours flower beds both of which have planting, including small trees, shrubs, flowers and some climbers. It is really important that whoever takes this work on is a careful and sensitive workman as my neighbour and I really want the gardens left with as little destruction as possible. I've left this job for late autumn so that I can cut back plants where possible to make access easier, though understandably it will be a bit restricted in certain places.
I'd like most of the work done from my side of the garden if possible. (It might not be?) However, We have a garden shed in one corner which means you definately won't be able to get at the end fence panel area, so access will need to be via my neighbours. We have a shared alleyway which makes access easier.
Thanks for your time.

Replace Fence & Gate
- Location: Sittingbourne

Job Description
6ft high fence with concrete posts and gravel boards and new wooden gate required. Approx width to be replaced is 21ft. Quote to include removal of existing fencing & posts, (although the recent high winds have made this relatively easy!), labour and materials. This is a rear boundary fence butting up to neighbours fences on both sides. I no longer want my fence connected to theirs as it is at the moment.
Replace my garden fencing and back gate
- Location: Sittingbourne
- Hired: Fitzgibbon Carpentry
- Trade: Fencing
- Positive feedback on 23rd Jul 11
Job Description
I need to replace my back garden fencing. It's only a small job but it's important that it look good.
Currently there are two 6x5 featherboard panels fitted on concrete gravel boards and to concrete posts, a matching back gate (6x3'3) and two other similar panels that were made to fit the remaining gaps. These panels are 6x 4 and 6x 3. (approx measurements) not on gravel boards.
Ideally I would like someone that several years experience and is reliable and can provide good quality fencing. Fencing should be pre treated fencing that is going to last. I have recently looked at Jackson fencing with a 25 year guarantee and were really impressed with the quality and finish but it's a bit on the pricey side. All gate fixings to be galvanised. It would help if I could see photos of previous jobs and customer feedback.

Replacement of Rear and Side fence
- Location: Chatham
- Hired: MP Fencing
- Trade: Fencing
- Positive feedback on 22nd Mar 11
Job Description
Rear fence has almost fallen down and needs replacing, preferably with Concrete posts this time. The width of the garden is approximately 28 feet, with the current rear fence extending beyond this into the two adjacent gardens and attaching to posts there.
The side fence also requires replacement and consists of 8 separate panels each, which I believe are 6x6 feet with wooden posts, but I’d imagine that concrete posts would be better replacements.
