We just bought a house with an old style fuse box system and it requires quite a bit of rewiring to bring it up to regs and to what we require.

We have a competent family member who is without the required part P certification, so we would like whoever comes to look at the job to be willing to work with him to keep costs down. We're willing to do the majority of the time consuming work ie. laying cables and drilling holes if possible.

We have 3/4 switch lights that needs looking at. On 2 of the switches, the light don't always turns on when switched on. One of them in a standard light bulb switch (bedroom) and the other ones are a spot light (downstairs toilet). The third/fourth switch that needs looking at is the one in the hallway. The switch from the top of the stairs work however when attempting to switch the light off and back on from the bottom of the stairs, it does not work.

Over time all of the downlighters in my 6yr old kitchen extension have failed. For the past 2 months only one has worked. This one finally failed this morning. Thought I'd bought the wrong replacement bulbs but just tested and working bulb from porch area also does not work and new bulbs work fine in porch. Appears to be a wiring issue.
