replacing electric shower
- Location: Enfield
- Hired: J D Electrical
- Trade: Electrical
- Positive feedback on 18th Apr 13
Job Description
I am owner of 3 bed semi-detached house. The current shower unit is a wall installed in the bath about 5 years ago. I have been advised the cabling is not correct for the type of installation which means not enough heat is getting through. The shower unit itself is loose. I believe I may need to replace the whole thing.

- Location: Enfield
- Hired: LPC Maintenance ltd

Currently getting kitchen installed by B&Q, but they will not install my own appliances unless they do their own electrics. Cooker needs wiring in and connecting to Gas supply, Cooker hood also needs installing.

Add & move electrical points (convert to study)
- Location: St Albans
- Hired: emilios electric
- Trade: Electrical
- Positive feedback on 8th Mar 13
Job Description
A spare room needs converting to a study.
The existing mains points need doubling-up, and probably moving within the room.
An additional mains point needs to be created at near-ceiling height (to power a broadband modem wifi hub, whose mounting near the ceiling is preferable).
In classic English style, the room's door is hung the wrong way. This is also scheduled for solving, so its corresponding light switch needs moving to the right side of the door. The switch also needs to be a normal switch, replacing the dimmer switch currently in place.
An earth wire needs re-installation. It was hidden behind coving, but without the coving, it needs proper securing.
A lighting wire needs re-installation. It powers an outside light. It was hidden behind coving, but without the coving, it needs proper securing.
Your thoughts about network cabling (Ethernet) also appreciated. I want to have the room properly networked, with options for the rest of the property (in the short-term, wifi access elsewhere in the property will work).
Your thoughts about improving the room's lighting also appreciated.
The property was originally built in 1963. A kitchen-fitter installed a kitchen within the past 10 years and found old wiring (pre black/red), calling it "pyrocast" wiring. The property was earthed (without extensive re-wiring) and had a consumer unit installed in 2001.
I own the property leasehold.
Lighting in kitchen and alternate light switch
- Location: St Albans
- Hired: emilios electric

- Positive feedback on 8th Mar 13
Job Description
A light switch in a kitchen currently controls one outside light, and needs to be doubled-up to be an alternate light switch for the kitchen inside light.
The kitchen is currently lit by a single flourescent tube. Your thoughts about improving it - I'm keen on flood-lighting! - would be appreciated.
