Hello,
Over the weekend i decided to pull my thumb out and get rid off as much as i could, which has reduced quite abit the amount that now needs to be cleared. I have updated the picture to reflect this and would appreciate quotes based on the new situation. I would like to get someone hired ASAP.
Thanks

Garden Clearance
- Location: Waltham Abbey
- Hired: Twiggs
- Trade: Demolition & Clearing
- Positive feedback on 14th Sep 10
Job Description
This project involves clearance of two areas at the top of a 30 metre long terraced garden. The work is for my parents, and I am helping them arrange this via mybuilder.com.
Area 1 is approx 6.0m by 4.2m and is located at the very top of the garden. The material to be removed consists of top soil, old paving slabs, a raised bed (and timber structure), the remains of a brick wall and steps (requires demolition) and various other items of rubbish as shown in the first photograph. The material is probably up to 400mm deep in places. The end result would be a level site finished with top soil, no more than 150mm above the level of the adjacent land. The top soil could probably be obtained from the raised bed which is to be removed.
Area 2 is adjacent to Area 1 and measures approx 3.2m by 2.1m. The material to be removed includes an old coal bunker (to include drainage pipes inside), roof tiles, a pile of old wood and various other bits and pieces. Photograph 2 shows the area in question. The end result here would be to reveal the concrete base underneath the excess material.
There is also other household rubbish from of an 8ft by 10ft shed which will also need to be disposed of. The majority of the contents is off cuts of wood etc.
The main challenge with this work is the route that will to be taken to dispose of the material. When my Dad was younger, he used to use planks down the steps as a means of using a wheel barrow to move materials around the garden. However, other suitable manual methods could be used. There is no access for any mechanical machinery.
The removal route is described as follows (from top to bottom of the garden):
7 meters of a 1 meter wide path.
10 Steps (could be avoided by using a sloped lawn – protection of the grass would be required).
15 meters of a 1.4m wide path.
10 Steps.
7 meters of a patio area.
5 Steps.
16 meters of a concrete/paved path (there is a narrow point of 0.75m).
12 meters of path to the front boundary of the property.
There is an area of lawn at the front which could be used for skips, or alternatively, skips could be put onto the road (subject to the necessary skip licences being obtained – please include for the cost of these and the skips themselves within the submitted price).
Further photographs could be provided by email. Visits to the site are also possible by prior arrangement.
Please feel free to email any further questions.
