Job Description
I have recently had a survey done on my house as we have had several issues with condesation and damp. The surveyor made several small recommendations, but the main thing being that the staining to either side of the kitchen/conservatory door appears to be due to bridging of the damp proof course during the alteration works when our conservatory has been added. They have advised that the installation of a chemical remedial DPC to either side of the doorway to the guidelines of BS6576:2005 and specialist salt retarding re-plastering works will be required.
I have cut and pasted this from the survey, as they have detailed exactly what I need:
Drill and inject all affected walls to either side of the opening into the conservatory, on the closest mortar bed joint above the floor with a chemical remedial DPC to the guidelines of BS6576:2005. Using a low pressure applied injection cream, re-plaster the walls using “Thistle Dry Coat” salt retarding plaster, finish using “Thistle Multi-finish” plaster. Other brands are available, but salt retarding plaster must be used on the base coat, the plaster should not bridge the new injected DPC.
the area istseld is small, only about equivalent to maybe 1.5m square. I was hoping to get an idea of how much this job would cost.
Thank you

Damp proofing/other for ground floor tyneside flat
- Location: Newcastle Upon Tyne
- Hired: Target Plastering
- Trade: Damp Proofing
- Positive feedback on 22nd Jan 13
Job Description
The front bay window of my tyneside flat in Heaton has a rather bad damp problem at the moment. There is an existing injected damp proof course that was put in before I bought the flat almost ten years ago, but it is obviously not working, the bay wall beneath the window is showing signs of severe damp. I want to renew the damp proof course, and I also intend to get the concrete around the front of the building renewed and the bay brickwork repointed to improve water run-off. I will post these as a separate job, but would be interested in someone to do both if that is economical or practical.
The concrete work will need to wait until the weather is appropriate I believe, I am not sure whether the damp proofing will, or which order the jobs need to be done in. I will take expert advice on that! But the sooner it can be done the better, as the internal paintwork is looking bad.
The windows in the bay are the usual PVC double glazed units, they were put in 4 years ago or so. They are not vented, so I need someone to drill vents in the top of the units; I may be able to do this myself, I am not sure. I will re-post this as a separate job too if necessary.
To conclude; three damp related jobs; damp proof course; concrete replacement; small job to drill vents in windows.
