Small dapm proof job (rising damp)

  • Location: East Ham
  • Hired: gpsplastering & damp proofing
  • Trade: Damp Proofing
Job Description

One small wall, 1.5 m length. Damp proof course needs to be injected and contaminated plaster requires hacking off, then re-plastered. There is a door with a new wooden step (same wall) and not sure what needs to be done with that bit + two little corners in the other room that also needs same as the 1.5 m wall. See photos of the wall and both corners.
It looks like there is a rising damp issue, when skirting board was off I could see that someone had a go damp proofing it, but either it wasnt done properly or it wasnt repleastered. I read that it should be done either with sand/cement with water-proofer/salt inhibitor in it or pre-mixed plaster such as Thistle Dri-Coat or Tarmac Limelite.
Would like it done ASAP.

Remedial damp proofing in rear addition kitchen

  • Location: Upper Holloway
  • Hired: Smart Maintenance
  • Trade: Damp Proofing
Job Description

This is a Victorian property. Several smaller existing rooms were merged to make a larger kitchen in 1983, and a damp course was installed. The ground level on one side of the kitchen is above floor level. By 2008, the lower part of some of the walls and pillars showed some peeling and swelling. A 'French drain' was dug outside, a new damp course installed, and some of the plaster, thought to be the problem, was replaced. Further remedial work was done in 2010, but there are now hairline cracks in some of the plasterwork and some of the skirting board, added in 2008 is being pushed away from the walls. I have not been able to make contact with the company who did the work in 2008/2010, and would welcome further advice.

  • Hired: plasterworks
  • Trade: Damp Proofing
Job Description

We have had a survey carried out on a property we wish to buy which has highlighted some damp (approx 2 metres in length) to the lounge wall. We have been told this needs a checmical injection. Could you please provide a quote for this? Thank you

* Added 5th April, 2013 :
Should have mentioned that although we dont own the property yet we would like to complete the work on the property prior to moving in and we have been told by the vendors that this is fine.
In terms of the additional info you may require- it is a victorian property - age 1900s, semi detached and the damp it is to side (outside one) wall, downstairs. There is no visible evidence but was picked up by the surveyor and the vendor has also had his own survey done that confirms it- but we would like to use own own firm for the job. thanks

Damp proofing rear of house

  • Location: Chingford
  • Hired: fredrico luis
  • Trade: Damp Proofing
Job Description

I recently moved into a 3-bedroom end-of-terrace property, but found that the damp-proofing course had only been done along the side of the property. The rear of the property needs to be done, comprising a rear bay and a downstairs WC (this extends out of the back of the house, it was previously an 'outside' toilet but is now connected, this needs doing on three sides as next door does not have this additional toilet).
If you need any additional details then please contact me.

Damp proofing room and conversion

  • Location: Kilburn
  • Hired: WW Bespoke Joinery and General Contractors
  • Trade: Damp Proofing
Job Description

I live in a semi-detached house in Kilburn/West Hampstead, the property is more than 150years old. The room our the stairs has suffered from damp for many years and was 'damp proofed' once before during the 1990s. This has obviously not been very successful. There are visible areas where plaster is collapsing and a general damp feel to the room - although only in one area of the room and it is above head height.
I want to have the room converted into a utility room as soon as possible but before it can be done it needs to be treated for damp. The job i need doing is as follows:

1. Assess where and why the damp is occurring.
2. Damp proofing the room to the highest standard.
3. Removing old plaster and making the room good for further changes.
