i.d damp problem and remedy
- Location: Benfleet
- Hired: JW Surveys
- Trade: Damp Proofing
- Positive feedback on 22nd Apr 13
Job Description
Hi,
We have 2 single storey extensions built at different times, sitting side by side at the back of our house. The floor is concreted. Our garden slopes from back to front, roughly 3ft.
About 2 months ago, while decorating, I noticed the paint blistering either side on the adjoining walls, ( 8ft long of blistering) just above the skirting. I have now found blistered paint on a rear wall( only a small patch).
I assume the damp is coming from underneath the extensions, from water running down the slope?
Please help as we are worried this is going to be very expensive to fix.

Tackle damp to bay window
- Location: Gillingham
- Hired: Tony Browne General Building
- Trade: Damp Proofing
- Positive feedback on 18th Jul 10
Job Description
Although there is a chemical damp proof course in the property, there are signs of penetrating damp to the front bay, believed to be coming from a broken down concrete filet round its base that is trapping the wet and possibly from a concrete base to the front of the bay, which includes a cemented in shaft to the basement where there was originally a window, now bricked up. I envisage that the job will be re-cementing the front outside cemented area and removing the blown plaster to the inside of the bay and replacing the plaster with plasterboard after carrying out necessary treatment to the wall, rather than plaster as we want to minimise disruption for the occupants.
Interior wall is wet whenever it rains
- Location: Wickford
- Hired: tyler roofing services
- Trade: Damp Proofing
- Positive feedback on 6th Jun 10
Job Description
Whenever it rains, one of our interior walls is damp / wet. Having inspected the roof, we have a hole in one of our tiles (maybe one square inch in size) so we suspect water is simply getting in thru this hole and running down.
The tile is in the final row at the top of our roof and seemingly accessible from the bedroom window. Hoping it'll be as simple as replacing this one tile and there will be no need to remove all of them. It'd be good to get some reassurance of course that this damaged tile is indeed the likely cause of our problem - ideally we're looking for someone with a good all round knowledge of this sort of problem (as opposed to someone who can change a tile)
Look forward to hearing from you. We're obviously looking to get this sorted as soon as possible.
Regards
Pete

Job Description
My bedroom is upstairs at the back of the house. It has a seperate roof from the rest of the house, it is almost like an extention. The room gets very cold and all the walls feel damp, particularly under the chimney stack. I have had my windows replaced with double glazing and the lead flash replaced in the chimney stack. I also had the guttering replaced on the opposite wall but the problems persist. Can anyone help? Can anyone repair the problem and stop this from happening? My flat is a terraced house converted into two flats in gillingham kent. The houses are arond 100 years old.
