Job Description
I am thinking of splitting my living room in two so I will end up having a smaller living room + an office/guest room.
As I don't want to lose day light, the idea is not to brick all the wall, but just a small part of it covering the door frame + around 0.7 meters up from the floor, plus a big window.

Victorian house knock-through
- Location: Cambridge
- Hired: Peter Kordek Integrity Design & Build
- Trade: Conversions - General
- Positive feedback on 3rd Feb 12
Job Description
I have a terraced 2-bed Victorian house in central Cambridge. I would like to have the partition wall between the front room and rear dining room knocked through, as is often done on houses of this type, to make one large sitting room. I have had a structural engineer take a look and calculate the beam required. Then make good and replaster. Also the floor to the front room would need to be laid to pine boards as in the rest of the house (currently there are rather shabby oak boards of a different width). I would also like to discuss optional enhancements, e.g. cabinets in the chimney alcoves or underfloor insulation.

Loft flooring and insulation
- Location: Cambridge
- Hired: JC Plastics
- Trade: Conversions - General
- Positive feedback on 22nd Jun 11
Job Description
We want to install a loft floor to use for light storage. At the moment there is about 300mm of loose insulation laid between and over the joists. We've already got about 10 square metres of chipboard panels for the flooring. We'd like these to be installed somehow while keeping the current standard of insulation, maybe by raising the joists so the insulation doesn't need to be compressed. We'd prefer the work to be done in the next month or two.
