Job Description
Hi, I'm looking for a multi-skilled team of tradesmen for my kitchen improvement project.
Currently we have a kitchen 250x270cm, next to a downstairs bathroom 250x190cm (bath tub, wash basin and toilet). Essentially the plan is to knock down the wall separating them, and extend the kitchen into the old bathroom. But we’d like to keep a downstairs loo, so we’ll need a partition wall, etc. Also we need to brick up the old door leading to the garden, and convert the window in the bathroom into French doors which will lead to the garden.
Work required in old bathroom:
1. Remove old bathroom suite (toilet, wash basin, bath tub)
2. Relocate radiator
3. Remove old window, open up wall, fit new lintel, fit PVC French doors
4. Knock down wall between bathroom and kitchen
5. Construct partition wall for new cloakroom
6. Fit new toilet, wash basin, extractor fan, and hang door
Work required in kitchen:
1. Remove what’s left of the old chimney up to ceiling and support adequately e.g. with steel angles in line with building regulations (see pictures)
2. Remove old window, fit new lintel and replace with new PVC window
3. Brick up old door leading to garden
4. Remove old kitchen (consisting of 5 base units, 5 wall units, gas hob, hood, sink, fridge, freezer)
5. Fit new kitchen (3 tall units, 5 base units, 3 wall units, gas hob, oven, hood, dishwasher, fridge/freezer)
6. Kitchen and cloakroom floor to be tiled. Some plastering and tiling might be needed
In terms of timing, we’re looking at having this work done around April/May 2010.
