We have bought a house with a fireplace which has been closed off with what looks like a thin slab of marble like material. We need someone to knock this through for us, and ideally sweep the chimney and advise us whether we need to get the chimney lined or not - so that we can use it as a real wood fire.

Water ingress occuring along full length of chimney (top to bottom) causing internal plaster to bulge along chimney breast in upper room, water staining to ceiling and water ingress into sitting room. Requires a survey to identify the issues and sensible solution proposed/quoted.
