Damp patches on first floor chimney breast

Job Description

There are multiple patches of damp on the chimney breast wall showing on the plaster. The chimney has been modified some time in the past to take a gas fire (now removed) and there are some obvious pointing requirements. We would like an expert opinion and an estimate of corrective work please.

Log Burner Fitting / Chimney Preparation. Inc Flue

  • Location: Stoke On Trent
  • Hired: paterson heating and plumbing services
  • Trade: Chimneys & Fireplaces
Job Description

Fitting a Log Burner in a late 1800s house. Will be in the kitchen chimney, and will require a flue fitting.

We already have a log burner, from an old house which is cast iron and high quality, so we would like that fitting.

Depending on the price of fitting, we would also like to have the chimney knocked through and prepared for the flue and logburner, however it may have to be DIY if the price of fitting is quite high.

Roof access is simple, with a second floor roof in good condition.

I imagine we will also probably need an extra flue going from the log burner to the chimney flue as well if the lintel is quite high, as is often the case with these older houses.

Quote please to include labour and materials!

Removing disused chimney stack that had the pot blown over due to high winds (which has now been taken down) and tile over on a 1964 bungalow. Job needed to be done quickly as we do not want water getting down the breast causing damp. I think some people have got confused by what I mean capping the chimney. What I mean is I need to stop the rain and rubbish coming down the chimney.
I will not be using it at the present but just want it capped so that I dont have any more rain come down.

Thank you
