Re-connection of existing flue-liner to GC1 terminal

  • Location: Sheffield
  • Hired: Gold Builing Services
  • Trade: Chimneys & Fireplaces
Job Description

Mid-terrace Victorian domestic property in Crookes, Sheffield. I've installed a new gas stove in my ground floor living room and whilst connecting the new stove flue to the existing chimney flue, the chimney flue was dislodged and connection to the existing GC1 terminal on top of the roof was lost. This needs checking and reconnection if possible. Otherwise other options would need to be considered. Also, a sealant would need to be considered to stop dust/debri from falling onto the new gas stove. Thank you.

Also to be included in the scope of works is laying of a new strip of tarmac (approximately 3metres length by 300mm width) over exposed soil in the backyard area (above the trench I had to dig up to lay water piping to my outhouse). thanks.

* Added 28th April, 2011 :
The external chimney on top of the roof will require re-pointing works as well. I would appreciate please a site visit and quote in terms of costs/timscale involved. thanks.

Disused small chimney reduction, repoint and capping

  • Location: Rotherham
  • Hired: Gold Builing Services
  • Trade: Chimneys & Fireplaces
Job Description

Disused end gable chimney (exterior portion only remaining) on rear of c1900 mid-terraced house - over single storey kitchen extension and shared with neighbouring property. Neighbour is aware of plans for repair and has requested that I obtain quotes.

Tiled roof and lead flashing in good order. However, chimney brickwork requires substantial repointing. Also, reduction of chimney height by approximately 4 rows of bricks and replacement of double size single slab to cap off (current slab old and in two pieces).

Anticipate small, straightforward job for tradesman experienced in chimney repairs. Access via back garden. Chimney gable next to flat roof (over remainder of kitchen extension) - ideally access using roof ladder over tiled section, as flat roof covered with rubber liner and pebbles which will be easily damaged if trodden on.

Would prefer work done on a weekend if possible. Not urgent, but ideally in next couple of months before winter weather. Request details of any builder's insurance and any guarantee on work done, if available.

Many thanks.
