Have a current open fire place which we are currently opening up and want a brick base/hearth (all one level, hearth is only 4 foot wide). Will need to finish off existing brick work either side at front of fire place so flush with wooden mantel piece surround so when chimney is swept the sides are solid. Bricks and cement used must be able to stand up to open fire.
