Hi,
We have a room we want to re-decorate, the house is in west Derby. A few things need doing:
a) Starting point is to fit an old cast iron fireplace that we have just ordered; the fire opening is still in place and not blocked up but is covered with some plywood and there is some loose rubble to remove. It will need some replastering around the edges.
b) we want the whole room re-wallpapering. We will supply the main (ie top layer) paper. At the moment it is covered in woodchip, this will need stripping (but I could do this myself depending on cost). Max room dimensions are approx 10.5ft x 14ft; there is a chimney breast on one wall and a bay window on another (the 14ft is into the bay).
c) there is an artex ceiling that we want to get rid of - either by removal or sealing and skimming over, I dont mind. I dont how whether it contains asbestos but would err on the safe side as its probably quite old.

Would be interested in quotes for all of the above, or parts of it if you don't want to do everything.

I have recently moved in to a large 3 bed edwardian terrace. At some point in the past the main bedroom fireplace has been removed and the fire opening enlarged (heightwise only) to accomodate a cupboard built in to the chimney breast. I have ripped out much of the wooden cupboard to see what is behind and there appears to ne some sort of.solid lintel in plqce to make it structurally sound (to my untrained eye it looks structurally ok). I think there may also be a lot of rubble in the chimeny above. Im not bothered about actually using it as a fire again but id like the rest of the wooden thing removed, the extended section rebricked to leave the original fire opening and the breast replastering.
In addition the whole breast is lined with some sort of painted chipboard, this all needs to come off and I think it will need stripping to the bricks and replastering.

Is also be interested in quotes for fitting a (reclaimed, supplied by me to the right size) fireplace afterwards - without the need for actual use, it will be just cosmetic.

I would prefer all the plastering to be done with lime based materials I possible to ensre breathability.

The chimney stack on our rendered cottage has suffered rain damage since (we believe) having new capping put on top of chimney, after it was lined about 6 years ago.
The rendering is bulging, falling off and needs replacing. We are in the process of selling our house and the buyer has asked us to repair this (at his cost) before he moves in (end of November 2011).
I suppose skills required would be a head for heights! plastering/rendering with 'spar'; brickwork skills.
