I am looking for someone to replace the existing slate hearth to the gas-fire place in our living room. The existing hearth is cracked and doesn't align with the floorboards (though these will be re-sanded and repaired subsequently - we hope!). We may also need to have the mantlepiece replaced, though this depends on how difficult/expensive a job it is likely to be.

On a recent visit my chimney sweep broke the chimney register plate. A new plate is needed to fit a stone fireplace with flu dimensions of approximately 1 metre x 50cm. There is a wood burning stove in the fireplace and 2 access ports will be needed in the plate for future chimney cleaning. The flu is unlined.

We currently have an open fireplace in our living room with a marble mantel. The original Victorian cast iron fireplace was removed in the 1930's and now we have painted tiles. We would like to have these taken out and a new cast iron fireplace put in along with a granite hearth which we will supply (to be used for solid fuel).
