Build large garage

  • Location: Didcot
  • Hired: Teambuilder and Garden Designs
  • Trade: Garages & Sheds
Job Description

Build a large garage next to an existing single garage, work to include digging and pouring footings, pouring base slab, building walls and concrete rendering the outside, roofing with interlocking tiles, but does not include fitting doors or windows or any electrical or other utilities installations. Planning is expected to have completed by the end of July so works could commence anytime thereafter.

Details:-
- location will be next to an existing single garage at the end of the garden (access shouldn't be a problem for equipment and deliveries)
- walls to be double block cavity and concrete rendered for total size of 7.5m x 6.5m (49m2), so under building regs level
- roof will be mono pitch 2.5m high nearest the house and rising to 4m furthest from the house, the roof will be tiled with Marley Melbourn Interlocking slates at 15 degree pitch chosen to match the house as close as possible
- a steel beam will be needed across the middle of the roof to support the roof structure and provide lifting beam abilities within the garage
- the conrete slab base will have steel mesh re-enforcement to spread jacking loads in one part of the floor
- guttering to be installed to both sides of the garage and soakaway next to the site - plenty of grass area right next to the site for this
- there will be one door, one window and one roller steel garage door - these will all be fitted separately so only needs the holes and lintels installing
- the plans include two velux roof windows - please quote with and without these as likely to get dropped depending on the cost
- the site is half concrete parking area (not thought to be very thick) and half grass, the land slopes away at about 1 foot in 30 so less excavations but some aggregate infil will be needed to make up the base to the higher level
- on site power and water can be provided from the house
- the purpose of the garage is to store one vehicle and provide an area for storage and workbench.
