I would like 4 air bricks fitting on my property. I live in a ground floor flat an have a slight problem with black mould in the corner of my two back bedrooms. I have had cavity wall insulation fitted and now the rooms seem not have enough ventilation. I would like 4 air bricks fitting, 2 on the rear of the property and 2 on the side of my property. I have the air bricks, and was going to do it myself but have seen on the internet that I may need to chop out the interior cavity wall as well. I do not have the tools or knowledge to do it and I would prefer to get a professional to do it. I am off work this week and was hoping to get it done in the next few days. If you could give me a quote as to how much you charge per hour that would be great. The job involves removing 4 bricks from the wall (+ cavity bricks if needed), inserting 4 supplied air bricks, re-pointing around the air bricks. There is easy access to do the job.

We have a separate kitchen (3.56m x 2.72m) and dining room (3.25m x 2.92m) that we want to knock through into one large kitchen/diner. The kitchen is part of the original 1930s semi-detached property and the dining room is a single storey extension to the back of the property. The joining wall we want knocked through is therefore the original external wall downstairs (and is still the external wall upstairs).

There is also a utility space and shower room that runs down the side of the kitchen. We want the shower room made smaller, into just a downstairs toilet and potentially moved along using the same bathroom suite.

Labour, materials and plastering to the remaining walls required.

Building control has not been notified so any necessary permissions we would need you to obtain.

* Added 5th December, 2012 :
We have discovered that the wall in between the utility and the current kitchen will also need a beam as it is supporting joists for the side extension.

We may also not carry forward with the downstairs toilet if the cost is too great so it would just require knocking through of the walls and the necessary plastering and finishing.

Job Description

The brickwork in our fireplace needs tidying up and checking for damp. There are a few bricks that could be replaced to make it look neater and a peice of boarding to be removed which currently blocks the chimney.

There is also the possibility of some external pointing on the chimney which may be causing damp on the chimney breast in one of the bedrooms.
