Front garden wall/driveway -reduce length by 1.0 metre
- Location: Cheadle
- Hired: brickworker
- Trade: Bricklaying
- Positive feedback on 10th May 13
Job Description
I'm looking to reduce the length of my front garden wall so that I can create more room to get my car on the drive (increasing space between brick posts across driveway).
Looking to reduce the length by approx 1.0 metres. Height of wall is 80cm and height of brick posts 146cm.
Will involve dismantling one brick post, removing 1.0 metres of wall and then building brick post back up to 146cm.
Will additionally need to put a paving stone down where the wall has been removed as there is approx 0.5 metre of soil behind existing wall to be removed . Rest of front garden is paved so will only need 1 paving stone over small soil border behind wall.
Keen to understand how long this may take, approx cost and how quickly someone can start.
Many thanks

Raise brick wall higher
- Location: Manchester
- Hired: Delectrician & Property Maintenance
- Trade: Bricklaying
- Positive feedback on 14th Apr 13
Job Description
Hello,
I would like to raise my existing brick wall higher.
Measurements:
HEIGHT: 10 more bricks higher
WIDTH: 7 metres (I checked and one row is 29 bricks for the width)
Existing copings to be reused at the top of the (new) wall.
Standard red brick to be used (Class B bricks), no pattern/design needed, just a normal brick wall that will used to grow climbing roses against.
Can you let me know:
1) Cost to raise wall?
2) Cost to re-point existing wall (in picture).
3) When can you do it? (it can be any day, as we don't need to be home when the work is done as side access to garden is possible).
Thanks!
* Added 1st April, 2013 :
Just wanted to clarify the amount of bricks for the WIDTH: 29 bricks for one row, but it is a double brick wall, so actually it will take 58 bricks per row.
Re-pointing parts of house
- Location: Manchester
- Hired: domestic roofingandbuilding
- Trade: Bricklaying
- Positive feedback on 12th Apr 13
Job Description
The house needs repointing in certain areas, especially the corners, as we are getting damp inside the house. You can visably see from the outside, cement between the bricks has worn away.
The house is redbrick & the areas to be re-pointed go quite high up, so would require a big ladder.
Depending on the price, would depend on how much is to be repointed.
Thanks
