Repointing, installing 4/5 air bricks
- Location: Gravesend
- Hired: kentish builder
- Trade: Bricklaying
- Positive feedback on 6th Nov 12
Job Description
Struggled to find a suitable job type for this work!
Job #1: brickwork on one external wall requires touching up/repointing
Job #2: same wall, requires ground level to be dropped six inches under damp proofing to create a drainage channel for rain water (think this is mostly soil but about a foot or two of concrete may need taking away also). Soil needs to be contained away from external wall.
Job #3: same wall, insert 4/5 air/ventilation bricks to dry out wall
Property is an 1880 semi-detached.
We may need to obtain permission from neighbour's landlord to push back their front drive boundary which currently compromises our damp proofing.
Please provide quote to include labour/materials. Quoters may be invited to view property to confirm their quote.

The top five rows of my garden wall fell down under the weight of the recent snow.
The whole wall is approximately 4.47 m long (14.66ft) and 1.52 m (5 feet) high. The part of the wall that has fallen down is roughly the top five rows, i.e. an area 4.47m (14ft 8") long x 62cm 92ft 4") down. (Each brick is 22cm x 10 cm).
I still have the old bricks in one piece, but they may need "cleaning" (they still have the old mortar attached to them). The foundations are secure. There is easy access to the back garden where the wall is and parking space available. I have been told it should take less than one day to do.

Build a retaining wall approx 20m long by 2.5m high
- Location: Chatham
- Hired: R W SMITH
- Trade: Bricklaying
- Positive feedback on 19th Jan 11
Job Description
We are a terrace block of three houses. At the end of our garden was a retaining wall holding our gardens in as we live on a hill. This collapsed in January apparently owing to the excessive weather conditions and the length of time it had been in place for.
It is approximately 20m long by about 2.5m high.
We are ready for the work to be completed as soon as possible.
There is an access road at the rear of the property where the wall was.
We previously employed a builder to complete this work but on completion day the structure collapsed. The company have now informed us that they are unable to rebuild so we would like to find a company that has experience in this field.
