Replace Bath with new item and fit better seal.

  • Location: Grays
  • Hired: marshalls plumbing
  • Trade: Bathroom Fitting
Job Description

We have a 13 year old bath which is scratched and tatty and needs replacing with a new bath.
The current bath is white standard size plastic, butted against tiled walls on three sides with a silicone sealant seal that is patched, split and mouldy ie totally unfit for purpose. This seal is covered by a plastic strip on three sides. The seal is failing on two sides and letting water damage the ceiling below.

We would like a white similar bath fitted with a new seal (not silicone sealant) fitted below the tiles, that is durable, mould resistant and long lasting. The line of tiles at seal level (8" x 8" white) will need removal and replacement. The bathroom gets very cold and wet with condensation and is very mouldy in the winter .

If possible , I would like to discuss possibly replacing the bath with a shower cubicle and fitting an extractor fan through the wall (9" solid brick) This may prove too costly but we at least need a new bath with a substantial seal.

Tradesman to supply bath, taps, seal etc. plumbing config to stay as is.

Thanks.

1. The family bathroom requires a complete new suite and re-tiling of walls and floor PLUS a heated towel rail (there is currently no heating in the room). The small window also needs replacing.

2. The en-suite shower room also needs new suite, tiles and towel rail. In addition this room requires modification to the stud-wall and a new glazed entry door. PLUS we would like to install a brand new window (no window currently exists) but not sure if this will require planning permission.

3. Finally, the adjoining master bedroom requires a new, relocated radiator and re-skimming the textured ceiling.

New Bathroom Suite Installed

  • Location: Leigh On Sea
  • Hired: D.Beech Tiling

Job Description

I own a first floor flat with a small bathroom. Currently the bathroom has a bath (with shower facility) a sink and a toilet. I am looking to replace everything and paint the bathroom etc so there would need to be a small bit of tiling and potentially a small bit of plastering work done. The main thing I would like to do is replace the bath with a shower tray. I have not bought anything as yet as I need to know if replacing the bath with a shower is possible. I have been told that it depends on which way the joists of the floor underneath run (i.e. running towards the outside of the flat) as to whether this is possible. The person that told me this was not a bathroom fitter so I am not 100% as to whether this is definitely the case. If the shower tray is not possible I will still proceed with the new bathroom but would obviously appreciate knowing all the various options available before proceeding
