workshop (Cambridge) - MyBuilder

Location: Cambridge

We are looking to build a workshop. We have the footings in place now.

We need quotes for building the workshop in standard high density concrete blocks. All materials will be supplied by us, unless the tradesman can get them cheaper. In which case we will pay for them, but the tradesman can order for us.


What we need from the builder is to lay the blocks. Area 40ft x 20ft
Height to be approx 11 feet one side and 9 feet the other for a pent roof.

What we really want is a day rate so we can compare the price of people say for a 10 hour day with an hour lunch - 9 hours working day. We can labour for the builder, mixing any cement etc...

Sorry about this. I had hoped to that a day rate would be the best way to select a tradesman. But on reflection and some advise from a tradesman - he advises that I cannot get a quote for the job as people must really see the job. But if we could ask for how much it would cost for blockwork per Square Metre. Then we can compare tradesman and work out the final cost of the job. Regardless of day rate.
So sorry, please can we change this to get a price for Blocks per Sq Metre. Working on 100mm dense concrete blocks or 140mm concrete blocks. Also if you could say how much it would cost per block I could let you order them , and I'll pay for them ! (as we have yet to source the materials)
