Repainting woodwork in 2 bed flat in e15 - Painting & Decorating job in Stratford, East London
2Repainting woodwork in 2 bed flat in E15
We'd like to have woodwork repainted in our two bedroom flat in Stratford, E15.
Skirtings in all rooms are already newly painted, but we'd like to do doors, handrails and skirtings in the corridor, specifically:
1. 6 doors and doorframes
2. 2 sets of handrails on two staircases (one is just a simple bar and one is a more elaborate one with vertical and horizontal bars)
3. Skirtings in staircase leading to the first floor, staircase leading to the loft and a small corridor.
Colour: white gloss
Condition: The woodwork was painted new 3 years ago and is in good condition, with a bit of yellowing in some places. The skirtings in the corridor will require more work - there is a horizontal crack in one place and paint if chipping off.
Additional information: All floors are carpeted, so care will need to be taken to protect the carpets while painting. Painting the handrail leading to the loft will require using a small step ladder (we can provide it).
Timeframe: second half of May (we're flexible)
We are looking to hear from interested tradesmen. Please provide a cost estimate and your availability, as well as an indication of how long the job would take.

We hired Tracey to paint woodwork, walls and ceilings in our flat.
We had hired painters before who did a superb job, and we were expecting similar of Tracey. She offered a good price and was friendly, but the quality of her work was very poor. She was careless, splashing violet wall paint on freshly painted white ceilings, staining white skirtings with violet paint, and missing whole patches of the wall and banisters. Rather than correct it herself, she waited on us to point out every single thing. As a result, the job took 6 days instead of 3. She was eager to make corrections, but while fixing one thing, she damaged another. She did not protect the carpet with a dust sheet, despite our requests, which resulted in numerous stains.
Our patience ran out when, while leaving our flat, she left deep scratch marks from the ladder on the freshly painted walls and a doorframe, and she left stains on the carpet. We told her we didn't want her to come back as we did not think her capable of doing it right. We said we would pay her, but she would have to bear the cost of cleaning the carpet. At first she tried to intimidate us, but since the stains were obvious, she agreed to pay for the cleaning. We had the carpet cleaned and we paid Tracey for the job 2 days after she had finished it, even though some stains are permanent.
We now have to redo most of the job. Very distressing and disappointing.
