I want to replce an old thermostat for our central heating system with a digital programmable version which looks very straight forward and something I'm happy to do. My intentions were to leave the heating amd water switched on from the old timer control to let the new thermostat do the work. However it seems when testing with the old thermostat we have a problem in that when the heating is off but water is on the upstairs radiators are still coming on hot. Through reading various internet forums I'm led to believe this is due to a faulty check valve on gravity fed heating systems. So what I think I need is an heating engineer to replace a check valve. The heating system is very old Baxi Bermuda boiler system but otherwise works perfectly so don't think we need to replace the whole system, the controller is a Danfoss 3060 with a pump in the upstairs airing cupboard if that's any help.
